Nov 8, 2019 at 18:38 | comment | added | Upper_Case | There is an entire splatbook (Blood Magic: Secrets of Thaumaturgy, I think) from Revised about exactly this topic-- unsanctioned teaching of Thaumaturgy by various sources. Saying that no Tremere would ever teach the Discipline to an outsider is typical V:tM consistency-- totally true and reliable, until it isn't.
Nov 8, 2019 at 18:37 | comment | added | JRodge01 | @BenBarden I'm not saying you're wrong. I wasn't making an exhaustive list of all the ways a character could learn the discipline; I just listed the "easiest" way. Not sure what you're trying to get at...
Nov 8, 2019 at 18:34 | comment | added | Ben Barden | @JRodge01 You're right. I did misread one word, and that was significant, but my overall point stands. My point is that Tremere antitribu represent a large pool of people who already know thamaturgy, who are not blood-bound to tremere elders (being under the viniculum) and who might be convinced to share the secrets of thamaturgy.
Nov 8, 2019 at 18:28 | comment | added | JRodge01 | @BenBarden You misquoted me and misinterpreted the statement. I state a non-Tremere wouldn't be taught the discipline by a Tremere. Antitribu are another whole aspect of the lore I wasn't going to get into since time period, edition, and setting have a huge factor on if they even exist.
Nov 8, 2019 at 18:16 | comment | added | Ben Barden | You specifically call out "Thaumaturgy would not be taught by anyone not blood-bound by a Tremere elder". That's simply untrue. It's not just a matter of not going into all the lore possibilities. Also, if you want to respond to someone and actually have them be informed of the response, either it needs to be a question/answer they wrote or you need to add the @username to the front.

Nov 8, 2019 at 15:37 | comment | added | Ben Barden | Your answer seems to ignore the existence of tremere antitribu, as they are pretty much the definition of "Tremere that broke the blood bond".
Nov 8, 2019 at 14:47 | comment | added | JRodge01 | My first sentence answers that. There is nothing that mechanically stops a character from knowing all the disciplines.
Nov 8, 2019 at 14:32 | comment | added | Rorp | I edited my question when I have seen your answer, because it seem that I wasn't clear. I don't want to make an NPC with all disciplines. I created an NPC that know all discipline except "magic ones", and I want to know if there is a thing (other than "that clan don't teach to stranger") in the lore that prevent it to learn the thoses disciplines, or if the only explaination that I could give to my player is the one I homebrewed.
