You've ruled that Minor Illusion does nothing. Just because it blocks visible light wouldn't stop a Minor Illusion blocking the invisible light which is the heat from a fire. | |

The answer is "because it's magical," unless we can find a ruling that further describes the properties of objects within a Minor Illusion spell. | |
