Jun 7, 2022 at 9:09 comment added Hobbamok @Eddymage sorry, I overlooked the "for the duration" at the beginning and thought the webbing would stay there. That would be cooler, so yeah, point for you
Jun 7, 2022 at 9:02 comment added Eddymage @Hobbamok The web from the Web spell is a magical effect, not an object.

Jun 4, 2022 at 8:38 comment added Trish @GroodytheHobgoblin which is exactly why I would not allow the tactic in the first place. I go by the philosophy of "If the players may do it, the GM may do it and vice versa." If the players start frostbombing their enemies fortifications to take them, then the GM may do so too. Which means by default that the evil wizard king wins because he can frostbomb towns once a day and force them to submission. Allowing the tactic because "it's cool" means the GM did not in fac think through the consequences on the world
Jun 4, 2022 at 8:36 comment added Eddymage @Trish It also depends on how much severe the DM is on setting the DC... ;-)
Jun 4, 2022 at 8:35 comment added Eddymage @GroodytheHobgoblin I think that the globe created by the spell is more a magical effect rather than an object, even if you can hurl it with a sling. I am pretty convinced that this can not be done by the rules. PS: did you have a look at the other issue about shield and shield spell?
Jun 4, 2022 at 8:32 comment added Nobody the Hobgoblin @Trish: this certainly would lead to exploitable tactics. As Eddymage says, it is costly to do this, but on the other hand, outside of dedicated efforts to track you down with divinations (which you can counteract as a wizard, e.g. with Arcane Sanctum), entirely risk free. You could start dismantling opposing fortified holds at no risk.
Jun 4, 2022 at 8:27 comment added Trish Welcome to the frosted ruins of a town, where a GM allowed casters to teleport spheres of frost, and as a result archmages demanding different political goals started to frostbomb the population into submitting to one or the other camp.
Jun 4, 2022 at 8:25 comment added Nobody the Hobgoblin +1 I think you identified the key question: is the globe an object, or not? Normally, I think magical effects are not objects, and if you decide it is not the answer is correct. I also think it is not. I'm just not sure about it, in this case. It feels quite object-y.
