Having the boat return without it's owner would likely be the natural point to address what happens with the money rather than making a quest to optionally get back what they shouldn't have gotten in the first place, from the DM's dilemma. I agree though in general, just let them have their gold, it's not that much in the grand scheme but maybe earlier than DM planned. | |
