It's a free action to put the Familiar in, and a Free action to take it out, which is pretty convenient. | |

Familiars are summoned and unsummoned, with a spell-like. One cast per day. The best thing about this choice is that you have a definite answer for the 'is my familiar here?'. You just say: It's not, want to summon it? | |
