Mar 29, 2017 at 2:33 | comment | added | Rob Stening | An NPC in my campaign killed a prisoner and used Speak With Dead. "Because the living get saving throws" (against Zone of Truth etc). Mostly an amusing anecdote, but does add the point that SWD means said slave cannot lie.
Dec 12, 2016 at 11:06 | comment | added | bp. | @mxzyplk It's fairly clearly not a serious suggestion, just the poster being exhaustive in their answer. (AT) KRyan Regeneration lists toes so it's clearly the 'correct' spell for the job. Tongues are small though, a sympathetic DM could allow Heal to also work.

Jun 11, 2015 at 16:55 | comment | added | KRyan | @mxyzplk All of them aside from regenerate itself are partial, incomplete, incompatible, or problematic solutions. I feel this is adequately stated in the text. Depending on their level, they may have to pick a suboptimal solution, and then it becomes worthwhile to know what those are.
Jun 11, 2015 at 15:58 | comment | added | mxyzplk | Many of these are not appropriate solutions to their problem (permanently reverse slavery damage) and probably should be culled out.

Jun 8, 2015 at 20:24 | comment | added | Hey I Can Chan | After PCs communicated via Drow Sign Language for several levels and grew complacent, they did so in forest managed by high elves and were attacked after by high elves accusing the PCs of being drow spies. Thus, in case Drow Sign Language is inappropriate, alternative nonspoken languages include the "gurgling sounds and handclapping" language Odopi (Monster Manual III 114-5) and the dance-based language Deadly Dancer (Tome of Magic 80-1).
