While bards have some differences per each game system, the iconic bard follows these main traits:

  • Charisma (natural charm) is a primary stat for them.

  • They hit better than an arcane caster but not as well as a normal melee front-liner like a Fighter or Barbarian.

  • They have some spells that are arcane in nature but a good chunk are mainly buffing or supportive and limited healing.

  • They have access to buffs that no other class does that they can bestow upon the party.
