This is my first time running a campaign, with just some one-shots of experience.

I thought it would be easier for meam attempting to create a campaign inutilizing a setting and lore from an already existing world that I know very well (Worldestablished series, World of Warcraft). However, sincebut I would like forfear my players (who do not know the story at all) to experience the story and to follow some important characters, I fear that they might seemay feel their story and aventures as "secondary"characters overshadowed by this concept.

What are some DM tools I definitely will allow themmay utilize to changeensure the player-driven story takes priority over the World of Warcraft world they will be experiencing, apart frombut maintaining the plot of the world itself?

Is there a few casesuseful method for selecting which parts of the World of Warcraft lore I wantwill and won't allow to keep.

How can I allow my players to experience this already-existing story without being overshadowed by the NPCs the story was originally about?be altered by the players?

Do you have any tips on how to allow my players to experience the story arc of some important characters without giving them the feeling that it might not be "their" story and that they are not just spectating some NPCs?How can I allow my players to experience this already-existing story without being overshadowed by the NPCs the story was originally about?
